The transaction detail drawer opens whenever you select a Karat Card transaction: from the home dashboard, the Cards page, or any transactions table. It replaces the older receipt modal and gives you one place to review a charge, attach receipts, add a memo, and start a dispute.

When to use it

Open the drawer to:
  • Confirm a charge’s status, merchant, amount, and card.
  • Attach receipts to a transaction for bookkeeping or expense reports.
  • Add a memo describing what a purchase was for.
  • Start a dispute for a charge you don’t recognize or that has an issue.

Opening the drawer

Click any transaction in a Karat Card transactions list. The drawer slides in from the right and stays open until you close it or select a different transaction.

What you’ll see

  • Status pill: shows whether the transaction is pending, captured, declined, refunded, or reversed at a glance.
  • Transaction details: merchant, amount, date, card, cardholder, and category.
  • Receipts: upload up to multiple receipts per transaction. Click a receipt to preview it in-line. Supported files include images and PDFs.
  • Memo: a free-text note attached to the transaction. Memos save automatically when you click out of the field, so there’s no separate Save button. An inline “Saving…” then “Saved” indicator confirms the change.
  • Dispute entry point: in the drawer footer, when the transaction is eligible (a captured card charge within Visa’s dispute window).

Uploading receipts

Drag a file into the receipts area, or click to browse. Each upload is added to the transaction. Earlier receipts are kept, not replaced. Click a receipt tile to preview it in a modal. When a transaction has multiple receipts, the preview modal pages through them with side arrows and dot indicators. You can also download or remove a receipt from the preview. Receipts you upload or remove show up on the transactions table’s Receipt column right away, without reloading the page.

Adding a memo

Type in the memo field and click or tab away. The memo is saved to the transaction and visible to anyone in your organization who can view that transaction. The Memo column in the transactions table updates immediately after the save.

Starting a dispute

If the transaction is eligible for a dispute, click Open a dispute in the drawer footer. See Disputing a transaction for what to prepare before you file.

Role access

What each role can do inside the drawer follows the Card user roles and permissions table:
  • Admins and Managers can view every transaction, upload receipts, edit memos, and open disputes.
  • Employees can do all of the above for their own transactions only.
  • Accountants see every transaction in the drawer (receipts, memos, status, and history) but can’t upload receipts, edit memos, or open disputes. The drawer is fully read-only for this role.
