If you see suspicious or unrecognized activity tied to a card on your account, or if your card was lost or stolen, you should freeze the card immediately. Freezing the card prevents new transactions from being authorized while we review the activity.

Freeze the Card immediately

  1. Log in to your dashboard
  2. Navigate to Banking or Charge Card > Cards
  3. Under the Status column, locate the affected card
  4. Toggle the card status to deactivate (freeze)
If you later determine that the transactions were authorized, the card can be reactivated at any time.

Contact our concierge team

After freezing the card, contact our team as soon as possible: Email: concierge@trykarat.com Phone: (323) 747-7086 We will review the activity and guide you through next steps, including filing a dispute if appropriate.

Before Starting a Dispute

After freezing the card, review the transactions carefully.

Have you interacted with this merchant before?

Merchants may accidentally double charge, process delayed transactions, or continue subscriptions after cancellation. Contacting the merchant directly may resolve the issue more quickly. If the charges are from a merchant you’ve previously done business with, you must attempt to contact them before beginning the dispute process. Failure to do so may negatively impact your case with Visa.

Does anyone else have access to the card?

Unrecognized transactions are sometimes made by employees, spouses, or family members. Confirm with anyone who may have access to the card before proceeding. Karat is a fintech company, not an FDIC-insured bank. Banking and Card services provided by Grasshopper Bank, N.A., First Internet Bank of Indiana, and Cross River Bank, Members FDIC.
