The Settings > Invoices page controls how invoices work across your organization. It’s available to users with Banking settings access (users with read-only Banking settings can view the page but can’t change values). You can find it under: Settings > Invoices

Reconciliation

The Reconciliation section controls whether new invoices use automatic invoice payment reconciliation by default.
  • On (default): New invoices are created with a unique virtual account number for the recipient. Your checking account number stays private, and Karat automatically matches incoming payments to open invoices and marks them as paid. See Automatic invoice payment reconciliation for details.
  • Off: New invoices skip virtual account creation and display the selected checking account details on the invoice PDF. Karat does not automatically match incoming payments to open invoices; you’ll need to reconcile payments yourself.
Turning reconciliation off only affects invoices created after the change. Invoices that already have a virtual account number keep using it.
When reconciliation is on at the org level, senders can still turn it off for a specific invoice from the Payment details step of the invoice creation flow. See Creating and sending an invoice.

Customize

The Customize section (also reachable directly at Settings > Invoices > Customize) is where you upload your business logo and set the default sender details and payment text that appear on invoices you send. This is the same customization that used to live under Banking settings. For a full walkthrough of these fields, see Customizing your invoice template. Karat is a fintech company, not an FDIC-insured bank. Banking and Card services provided by Grasshopper Bank, N.A., First Internet Bank of Indiana, and Cross River Bank, Members FDIC.
