To file a claim for any benefit, contact the Benefit Administrator using the numbers in the contact information table at the bottom of this page. Each benefit has its own filing deadline — see the relevant section for details.
Travel and Emergency Assistance Services
Available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, Travel and Emergency Assistance connects you with local emergency and assistance resources while you’re traveling away from home. You, your immediate family members, and business associates are all eligible. Services include emergency message relay, medical and legal referrals, emergency transportation arrangements, lost ticket replacement, lost luggage locator, emergency translation, prescription assistance, and pre-trip information (ATM locations, visa requirements, health precautions, and more).This benefit provides referral and coordination only — you are responsible for the cost of any actual services provided.
Auto Rental Collision Damage Waiver
Reimburses you for theft or collision damage up to the actual cash value of most rented cars, for rental periods up to 31 consecutive days. For business rentals, this benefit acts as primary coverage. For personal rentals, it is secondary to your personal auto insurance. How to use it: Pay for the entire rental with your Karat card and decline the rental company’s CDW/LDW option at the counter. Report any incident within 45 days; claims must be fully documented and postmarked within 365 days. Vehicles not covered include exotic and antique cars, cargo vans, trucks, motorcycles, limousines, and recreational vehicles. Rentals in Israel, Jamaica, the Republic of Ireland, and Northern Ireland are excluded.Purchase Security
Covers eligible new purchases made with your card against theft or damage for 90 days from the date of purchase. Coverage is up to $10,000 per claim and $50,000 per cardholder. Contact the Benefit Administrator within 60 days of the incident. Items not covered include animals, antiques, motor vehicles, computer software, perishables, real estate, rented items, and items that mysteriously disappear with no evidence of wrongdoing.Extended Warranty Protection
Doubles eligible manufacturer’s warranties of 3 years or less, up to 1 additional year of coverage. Benefit is limited to the original purchase price, up to $10,000 per claim and $50,000 per cardholder. Contact the Benefit Administrator within 60 days of product failure.Baggage Delay Reimbursement
Reimburses essential items purchased while your checked baggage is delayed more than 4 hours by a common carrier. Coverage is up to $100/day for up to 3 days ($300 maximum), per eligible traveler. Notify the Benefit Administrator within 20 days of the delay.Cellular Telephone Protection
Covers your cell phone against damage, theft, or accidental loss when you pay your monthly wireless bill with your Karat card. Coverage is up to $250 per claim (after a $50 deductible), with a maximum of 2 claims and $500 per 12-month period. Coverage begins the first day of the calendar month after you pay your wireless bill. Contact the Benefit Administrator within 60 days of the incident.Electronic failures (inability to charge, battery failure) with no evidence of physical damage are not covered.
Emergency Medical and Dental Coverage
Reimburses emergency medical and dental treatment expenses if you become sick or injured during a covered trip purchased with your card. Benefit limit is up to $2,500 (after a $50 deductible). Eligible trips must be taken via a common carrier, last between 5 and 60 days, and originate at least 100 miles from your residence. Notify the Benefit Administrator within 90 days of receiving care.Lost Luggage Reimbursement
Reimburses the difference between your claim value and the common carrier’s payment if your checked or carry-on baggage is lost or misdirected. Coverage is up to $3,000 per covered trip (New York residents: $2,000 per bag). Notify the Benefit Administrator within 20 days of the loss.Trip Delay Reimbursement
Covers reasonable additional expenses (meals, lodging) when a covered trip is delayed more than 12 hours due to equipment failure, inclement weather, strike, or hijacking. Coverage is up to $300 per ticket, limited to one claim per covered trip. Contact the Benefit Administrator within 30 days of the delay.Return Protection
If a retailer won’t accept a return within 90 days of purchase, Return Protection may reimburse you up to $250 per item, with an annual maximum of $1,000 per account. Contact the Benefit Administrator within 90 days of purchase. Items not covered include animals, motor vehicles, cash, formal attire, jewelry, art, items purchased outside the U.S., and seasonal items.Roadside Dispatch
A pay-per-use roadside assistance program available 24/7 — no membership or pre-enrollment required. Standard service calls (current fee: $79.95) cover towing up to 5 miles, tire changing, jump starting, lockout service, fuel delivery up to 5 gallons (plus cost of fuel), and standard winching within 100 feet of a paved road.
