How roles work

Karat supports four primary user roles with different access levels across Card and Banking. Users can hold different roles for different products. For example, a user may be a Manager for Banking and an Employee for Card. The exception is the Admin role. An Admin always has full account access across all products.

User role types

Admin
Full access to all products, settings, and team management across the entire account.
Manager
Broad access within assigned products, including transaction review and approvals.
Employee
Limited access within assigned products, typically restricted to their own activity and subject to transaction limits or approval workflows.
Accountant
Read-only access to financial data for bookkeeping and reporting purposes.

Inviting a team member

To invite a new team member: Settings > Manage team > Invite member You will need their name and an email address that is not already linked to a Karat account.

Changing a team member’s role

To update a user’s role: Settings > Manage team > ••• > Edit role If a role is upgraded: the user may be prompted to agree to additional terms before gaining access. If a role is downgraded: access is reduced immediately. Existing account activity is not disrupted. All role changes trigger an email notification to the user and all Admins.

Removing a team member’s access

To remove a user’s access: Settings > Manage team > ••• > Remove Access Karat is a financial technology company, not a bank. Banking services provided by Grasshopper Bank, N.A., Member FDIC.
