# Tracking payments

> Track Karat Payments by batch and recipient, filter and search the payments table, view recipient details and payout funding, and download a remittance PDF.

Every payment you send can be tracked in real time from your [Payments Dashboard](https://app.trykarat.com/payments). You can view status at both the batch level and per recipient.

## Filtering and searching payments

Use the filter bar at the top of the payments table to narrow down results. You can combine multiple filters at once:

* **Search**: find payments by recipient name, email, or description.
* **Recipient**: show payments for one or more specific recipients.
* **Status**: filter by payment status group:
  * **Cancelled**: payments you cancelled before they were processed.
  * **Completed**: payments that were successfully delivered.
  * **Failed or returned**: payments that failed to process or were returned after delivery.
  * **Pending**: payments that are created, in progress, or under review.
  * **Recipient action needed**: payments waiting for the recipient to provide tax information or accept the payment.
* **Date range**: show payments created within a specific time period. Choose a preset or set a custom range:
  * **All time**: no date filter applied (default).
  * **Today**: payments created today.
  * **This week**, **This month**, **This year**: payments created in the current week, month, or year to date.
  * **Last week**, **Last month**, **Last year**: payments created in the previous completed week, month, or year.
  * **Custom**: pick your own start and end dates.
* **Amount**: filter by minimum or maximum payment amount.

Active filters appear as pills above the table. Click the **x** on any pill to remove that filter.

## Viewing recipient details

Click a recipient from your Payments Dashboard to open their detail view. This includes:

* Tax status and verification
* Country: based on the recipient's onboarded taxpayer information. Shows `-` if the recipient hasn't provided a country yet.
* Payment method
* Lifetime and year-to-date payment totals

The country reflects the recipient's country of citizenship, mailing address, or personal address (in that order), and is useful for confirming where international payouts will be sent.

## Viewing payout funding in Banking

When Karat pulls funds from your Karat Banking account to cover a batch of payments, a **Payout Deposit** transaction appears in your banking transactions list. Opening this transaction shows a **Payouts in this deposit** section that lists each payout the deposit funded, including the recipient name and amount per payout.

Use this to reconcile a **Payout Deposit** line item without cross-referencing the Payments dashboard.

To view the breakdown:

1. Go to **Banking** and open the transactions list.
2. Click the **Payout Deposit** transaction you want to inspect.
3. Scroll to **Payouts in this deposit** to see each recipient and amount included in the batch.

> The **Payouts in this deposit** section only appears on RTP **Payout Deposit** funding transactions. Other banking transactions do not display this breakdown.

## Downloading a payment remittance

You can download a PDF remittance for any payment. The remittance includes the payment amount, status, recipient details, transfer information, fees, and a reference ID.

To download a remittance:

1. Open a payment from your Payments Dashboard
2. Click the **download** icon in the payment detail view
3. The PDF will be saved to your device

This is useful for recordkeeping, sharing payment confirmations with recipients, or providing proof of payment to a third party.
