# Export banking transactions

> Export filtered banking transactions from your Karat dashboard as a Basic or Detailed CSV for accounting, reconciliation, and record keeping.

You can export your banking transactions to a CSV file from the dashboard to use in spreadsheets, accounting software, or for record keeping.

Exports include the transactions currently matching your table filters, so you can narrow down by date range, account, direction, or category before exporting.

## How to export transactions

1. **Open the transactions table.** Go to **Banking** and select either your **Checking** or **ATP** account.
2. **Filter your transactions (optional).** Use the filters above the table to narrow your results by date range, direction, category, or other fields. The export will only include transactions that match your current filters.
3. **Open the export window.** Click **Export** above the transactions table to open the export window.
4. **Choose a format.** Pick **Basic CSV** or **Detailed CSV** (see the formats section below).
5. **Request the export.** Click **Request export**. Small exports download right away. Larger exports keep running in the background and appear in the export history when ready.

> [!NOTE]
>
> You can close the export window or navigate away while a large export is preparing. It will keep running, and you can come back to download it.

## Export formats

| **Format** | **What's included** |
| :- | :- |
| **Basic CSV** | The same columns you see in the transactions table: date, description, amount, and type. |
| **Detailed CSV** | Everything in the basic CSV, plus transaction detail fields, notes, route data, and additional amount details when available. |

Choose **Detailed CSV** if you're reconciling against bank statements or importing into accounting software. Choose **Basic CSV** for a quick summary that mirrors what you see on screen.

## Downloading and managing past exports

The export window shows your recent exports at the bottom. Click **View all** to see your full export history.

Each export shows its format, status, row count, and the filters that were applied when it was created.

| **Status** | **What it means** |
| :- | :- |
| **Preparing** | The export is queued or processing. Check back shortly. |
| **Ready** | The file is ready to download. Click the download icon to save it. |
| **Failed** | Something went wrong. Click **Retry** to start the export again. |
| **Expired** | The download is no longer available. Request a new export to get the data. |

> [!NOTE]
>
> Exports are available to download for **7 days** after they're created. After that, you'll need to request a new export.

## Including transactions awaiting review

If your transactions table is showing transactions that are awaiting review, those will also be included in the export. To exclude them, toggle off **Show transactions awaiting review** in the table before requesting the export.

## Rate limits

To keep exports reliable for everyone, there are limits on how many exports you can request in a short period. If you hit a limit, you'll see a message in the export window telling you when you can try again. Existing exports that are still preparing or ready to download don't count against new requests until they expire.

## Troubleshooting

* **Export is stuck on Preparing for a long time.** Large exports can take a few minutes. If it hasn't moved after several minutes, refresh the page. If it still doesn't progress, reach out to support.
* **Download link doesn't work.** The link may have expired after 7 days. Request a new export with the same filters.
* **A column I expected is missing.** Switch to **Detailed CSV** for additional fields like notes, route data, and extra amount details.
